CALLUSES
Definition:
Calluses
are thickened skin made of dead skin cells found at the ball of the foot, the
heel, and/or the inside of the big toe. The thickened skin is formed to protect
the feet from excessive friction and pressure. Calluses grow in layers and in
some instances have a deep core known as a nucleation. The thickened core puts
additional pressure against the skin causing pain. Calluses on the feet can
develop into corns.
Causes:
- Improper fitting footwear
- Friction caused by low metatarsal heads
- Flat Feet
Why You Need Happy Feet
Happy Feet® Massaging
Insoles redistribute the weight evenly across the foot, eliminating any friction
or excessive pressure on the feet. The glycerin fluid cuts the friction forces
and absorbs the shock. This alleviates the pain and allows the calluses to heal.
Happy Customers:
"After wearing Happy Feet I no
longer have callus pain. The callus is still there, but NO MORE PAIN. I would
not be without them." (Elizabeth, Wisconsin)
"I wear Rockport, Reeboks, Hushpuppies and other good shoes. None of them
feel good until I put Happy Feet in them. I even got rid of a callus since I'm
using Happy Feet." (Mrs. V., Pennsylvania)
CORNS
Definition:
Corns
are thickened skin made out of dead skin cells, found at the top, sides and tips
of the toes. In some cases, the cone shape core may press on a nerve bellow
causing pain. Pain is also experienced as improper fitting footwear rubs on the
corn and inflames the skin.
Causes:
Corns are usually caused by shoes that do
not fit properly or by deformed toes.
Why You Need Happy Feet
Happy Feet® Massaging
Insoles redistribute the weight evenly across the foot, eliminating any friction
or excessive pressure on the feet. The glycerin fluid cuts the friction forces
and absorbs the shock. This alleviates the pain and allows the corns to heal.
Happy Customers:
"These inserts are the best
invention since shoes. In my job, I walk approximately 14 miles per day, on
concrete. My feet never felt better, even if I wore sneakers. Thank you for this
product!" (Stanley, T.)
"I have tried almost every gimmick on the market to aid my aching feet. I
wear "quality" shoes, but still without any relief. However, about a year ago,
my wife gave me a pair of Happy Feet. My feet have never been happier."
(Kenneth, Florida)
HEEL
PAIN
Definition:
The heel,
also known as the calcaneus bone, is the first part of the foot that touches the
ground when running or walking. Usually, heel pain becomes apparent when muscles
or connecting tissues to the heel bone are inflamed.
Causes:
- Plantar Fasciitis - Caused by excessive stress or tear of the plantar
fascia; a fibrous band of connecting tissue that extends from the heel bone to
the toes and supports the arch.
- Heel Spur - A calcium buildup found in the heel and around the ligaments and
tendons of the foot, where they attach to the heel bone.
- Gait Abnormalities - Cause inflammation to the structures attached to the
heel bone.
- Thinned Out Fat Pads - Overtime, the fat pads that protect the heel bone may
thin out.
- Obesity - Causing excessive pressure on the heel and plantar fascia.
- Flat Feet - The plantar fascia may overstretch and become inflamed.
- High Arches - The plantar fascia may be pulled too tight.
Why You Need Happy Feet
Happy Feet® Massaging
Insoles align your foot and distribute the weight of the foot evenly, giving
instant relief to heel and soothing the irritated muscles attached to the heel
bone. They also massage your foot, thereby relaxing the band of irritated
connecting tissues between the heel and the base of your toes. This all-day
massaging helps alleviate pain.
Happy Customers:
"I have finally found relief!!!
They are "the greatest." I have just ordered another pair. The first time in
years I can walk without pain in heel, leg and back. They are the "greatest
thing invented." I thank God I found Happy Feet." (Shirley D.)
"I have worn them (Happy Feet) a few days now, and let me tell you, it is
like a miracle, I really can't believe it, my pain in my left heel is completely
gone (honestly). Also, I can't believe my right knee, it is already 100 percent
better." (Linda, New York)
PLANTAR
FASCIITIS
Definition:
Common
among runners and athletes! Plantar fasciitis is caused by excessive stress or
tear of the plantar fascia; a fibrous band of connecting tissue that extends
from the heel bone to the toes and supports the arch.
Pain is most intense after a long rest, when the plantar fascia reverts back
to its original shape. The pain is experienced at bottom of the foot between the
heel and arch. Normally, as the day progresses, the plantar fascia stretches and
the pain dissipates.
Causes:
- Flat Feet (Pronated Feet) - The plantar fascia may overstretch and become
inflamed.
- High Arches (Supinated Feet) - The plantar fascia may be pulled too tight.
- Obesity - Causing excessive pressure on the plantar fascia.
Why You Need Happy Feet
Happy Feet® Massaging
Insoles massage your feet, thereby relaxing the band of irritated connecting
tissues between the heel and the base of your toes. This all-day massaging helps
alleviate your pain.
Happy Customers:
"Happy Feet make a difference on
how your legs and feet feel; they feel great! I don't want to be without them
for a single day." (Fay, Alabama)
"Before wearing Happy Feet, I was being treated for back and leg pain. Now,
as long as I wear Happy Feet, I don't have the pain that I did before."
(Bobby, North Carolina)
POOR
CIRCULATION
Definition:
Proper
blood circulation is crucial to your existence. Blood circulates throughout your
body, tissue and organs to provide them with nutrients, carry your body's waste,
protect you from germs that cause disease, keep you cool and warm, and heal
wounds. Poor blood circulation can cause many problems.
Causes:
Many health conditions disrupt the proper
flow of blood to organs, tissue, feet and hands, causing havoc with a person's
health and well being. When the blood flow to the feet is restricted, the
following symptoms and foot conditions usually emerge:
- Tired Feet - There are many conditions that can make a person have tired
feet. Some of these conditions may be damaged nerves, fibromyalgia, bone pain or
restless leg syndrome.
- Burning Feet - Can be caused by gout, diabetes and neuroma (a trapped
nerve).
- Cold Feet - Can be caused by the slowdown of blood from the heart to the
feet. This usually happens at night when sleeping and immobile.
- Leg Cramps - Painful, involuntary contraction of a single muscle or a muscle
group caused by abnormal electrical activity of the central nervous system.
- Inflammation of Feet and Ankles - The build-up of excess fluids or
inflammation of adjoining tissues.
- Uric Acid Crystals Caused by Gout - Uric acid crystals accumulate in the
joints; usually, the large joint of the big toe. Uric acid crystals form and
deposit in joints and other tissue, when the uric acid is not broken down and
does not dissolve into the urine.
- Neuropathy Suffered by Diabetics - Numbness and sometimes pain in hands,
feet and legs caused by damaged nerves. Since the nerves to the feet are the
longest in the body, they are most often affected by neuropathy. Foot ulcers can
develop overtime. If not treated properly, they can become infected resulting in
amputation.
Why You Need Happy Feet
Happy Feet® Massaging
Insoles improve circulation as the glycerin fluid pumps up and down along the
arches of your feet. This all-day massaging action improves blood flow and
circulation in the feet and lower body. The "pump" action creates and releases
pressure on your feet as you walk. This push and release action flushes the
blood pools that have accumulated on your feet and allows new, oxygen-rich blood
to flow in.
Happy Customers:
"After being unable to walk for
almost 2 years, I find that Happy Feet have helped me enormously. During this
period of time, the following practitioners were consulted and did not help me:
Foot and Ankle Hospital, rheumatologist, podiatrist, orthopedist (feet only),
sports medicine, physio-therapy, pool therapy and orthotics. You can imagine how
grateful I am to your company." (Gloria, New Jersey)
"I received my Happy Feet from my mom for Christmas and wore them for the
first time last night. I was on my feet for 9 hours as a waitress and my feet
were happy! Thank you, thank you, thank you for a great product!!!"
(Pam, Pennsylvania)
"I'm on my feet from about 5 a.m. to about 3 p.m. each day, continually
walking through numerous buildings in the performance of my job. Happy Feet give
me a real good feeling all day long. My feet are not tired at the end of the
day, like they used to be after work." (Lou, Virginia)
METATARSALGIA
Definition:
Metatarsalgia
is the inflammation of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th metatarsal heads (the rounded ends of
the bones that connect with the bones) or of the first metatarsal head, near the
big toe. Pain is experienced on the balls of the feet, known as the metatarsal
region.
Causes:
The pain is caused when extensive,
intense pressure inflames the metatarsal heads. This happens during extreme
activity, like power walking or running. It can also be caused by other foot
problems, such as hammer toes, bunions, Morton's neuroma and thinning of the fat
pads at the balls of the feet.
Why You Need Happy Feet
Happy Feet® Massaging
Insoles lift and support the longitudinal arch keeping your feet aligned. The
glycerin fluid cuts the friction forces and absorbs the shock to the feet. This
alleviates the pain and reduces the inflammation to the metatarsal heads.
Happy Customers:
"I really love them. They are the
BEST insoles out in the market today. They really help my feet and legs. I am a
walker and I am lost without my Happy Feet." (Mrs. D.,
Washington)
"The day before my 12 mile road march, I received the Happy Feet. My husband
wore them during his march and came home happy with no blisters. We are so
pleased with the results; we have since then ordered 8 pairs. We find them
wonderful gifts for friends and relatives. My husband cannot thank you enough!
(Mrs. R.F., Michigan)
HEEL SPURS/CALCANEAL
SPURS
Definition:
Known as the
"toothache in the foot", a heel spur is a nail-like excess bone that grows on
the sole of the heel bone (calcaneal bone). This solid growth is found around
the ligaments and tendons of the foot, where they attach to the heel bone. The
spur grows from the bone and into the flesh of the foot.
Causes:
The heel bone is protected from impact by
several layers of fatty tissue. Pain is caused when the nail-like, heel spur
disrupts this tissue and inflames the plantar fascia, a fibrous band of
connecting tissue that extends from the heel bone to the toes and supports the
arch. The inflammation or tear of the plantar fascia is called plantar
fasciitis.
Why You Need Happy Feet
Happy Feet® Massaging
Insoles align your feet and distribute the weight of your feet evenly, giving
instant relief to heel spurs. And, it soothes the irritated muscles attached to
the heel bone. They also massage your feett, increasing circulation. This
increase in circulation appears to slowly dissipate calcium buildup. It's
accomplished as fluid pumps up and down along the arches of your feet to the
ball of your feet.
Happy Customers:
"I had a bone spur in the heel of
my foot, which usually requires orthotics or surgery. Since I'm using Happy
Feet, I'm virtually free of pain." (Kathy D.)
LOWER BACK PAIN/KNEE
PAIN
Definition:
Every step
you take puts pressure on your legs, hips and spine. When there is a problem
with the foot's pronation (over pronation), the foot's gait cycle is imbalanced,
causing unnecessary strain on the heels, legs, knees and lower back.
Pronation is the biomechanical shock absorption motion of the ankle, foot and
lower leg. As a person walks, runs or stands, the ankle flexes inward or
pronates to absorb the shock and control balance.
Causes:
Over pronation occurs when the ankle or
foot excessively flexes inward or the arch flattens too much. The resulting
unstable position places added stress on the medial (inside) portion of the foot
during the mid-stance and/or toe-off phases of the gait cycle. The body over
compensates from the lack of stability in the foot. The knees and lower back
absorb the shock, causing pain in the lower back and knees.
Why You Need Happy Feet
Happy Feet® Massaging Insoles help align your feet into their proper
positions. Your shin bone becomes misaligned when your foot improperly settles
in the longitudinal arch. This misalignment continues up to the spinal column,
causing discomfort to the knees, hips, legs, lower back and upper back.
Happy Customers:
"What a surprise! After one week
wearing Happy Feet, I noticed a difference not only in my feet, but also in my
back and knees." (Patricia, Massachusetts)
"I am a nurse's aide. I am on my feet all day and I have arthritis in my hips
and feet. Happy Feet has been a godsend. My feet don't hurt as much and it has
helped my back. I couldn't do without Happy Feet now. I love them. They really
work." (Sharon A.)
"I love them! They prevent backaches and after being on my feet for 8 hours a
day, my feet feel fantastic! I feel like I could dance all night and never have
tired, achy feet. They are the greatest thing that I've ever done for my feet!
Thanks for making such a wonderful product!" (Tammy, Michigan)
"I work in a nursing home where I am on my feet 7 or 8 hours a day. My feet,
legs and back don't hurt by the end of the day now that I wear the Happy Feet. I
come home and don't have to put my feet in a hot pan of water." (Elfi,
W.)
MORTON'S
NEUROMA/INTERMETATARSAL
NEUROMA
Definition:
Morton's
neuroma is the compression and thickening of nerve tissue that occurs at the
base of the third and fourth toe. "Intermetatarsal" refers to the location of
the neuroma; the ball of the foot between the metatarsal bones (the bones
extending from the toes to the midfoot).
Symptoms include: a burning sensation, feeling a bump on the balls of your
feet, pain, numbness and tingling.
Causes:
The main cause of Morton's neuroma is
wearing tight, high-heeled, pointy shoes that over time constrict the toes and
compress the nerves. Other causes include: bunions, hammer toes, flat feet and
running.
Why You Need Happy Feet
Happy Feet ® Massaging
Insoles lift and support the longitudinal arch, shifting the excessive weight
from the metatarsal arch. This allows the metatarsal bones to settle back into
their proper place, and helps reduce the nerve pinching that causes Morton's
neuroma.
Happy Customers:
"I purchased a pair of Happy Feet
for my 82-year-old dad. He was having severe leg pain and we were trying
everything to help him. Since he started wearing them, the pain has almost gone
away and he can continue working as a barber, which he has done for 65 years."
(Marian, North Carolina)
DIABETIC PERIPHERAL
NEUROPATHY
Definition:
Diabetes
is a disorder of the body's metabolism, in which the beta cells of the pancreas
are unable to produce sufficient insulin. Insulin is a hormone that helps
glucose get into the cells to give them energy. Without insulin, too much
glucose stays in the blood. Over time, high blood glucose can lead to serious
problems with blood circulation, the heart, eyes, feet, kidneys, nerves, gums
and teeth.
Peripheral Neuropathy & Poor Circulation
People with diabetes can develop many foot problems. Most often, problems
with feet happen when there is damage to the peripheral nerves that control
motor and sensory functions. This is called "peripheral neuropathy." Nerve
damage is the direct result of poor circulation.
Diabetes causes blood vessels of the feet and legs to narrow and harden. This
impedes blood flow from reaching your feet; making your feet less able to fight
infection and to heal. Furthermore, many people with diabetes suffer from artery
disease, which also reduces blood flow to the feet.
If a diabetic does not take proper care of their feet, a small cut that does
not heal turns into an ulcer. Furthermore, the ulcer becomes infected and
gangrene sets in. To avoid the spreading of gangrene and infection, doctors may
amputate the foot.
Why You Need Happy Feet
Happy Feet® Massaging
Insoles improve circulation as the glycerin fluid pumps up and down along the
arch of your foot. This all-day massaging action improves blood flow and
circulation in the feet and lower body. The "pump" action creates and releases
pressure on your feet as you walk. This push and release action flushes the
blood pools that have accumulated on your feet and allows new oxygen rich blood
to flow in. Also, the insoles protect the soles of your feet by contouring to
your feet, reducing the friction forces to your skin and absorbing the shock to
the feet.
Happy Customers:
"I am buying them (Happy Feet)
for my husband who is a diabetic, and needs them. Your insoles have really
helped him. He works on a hard cement floor, and since he's been using them his
feet don't hurt, don't ache, and they don't get numb anymore." (Susan,
Pennsylvania)
BUNIONS/HALLUX VALGUS &
TAILOR'S
BUNION
Definition:
Definition
of a Hallux Valgus
A bunion/hallux valgus is a bone protruding from the
inside of the big toe, creating a prominent bump on the inside of the foot
around the big toe. This bump deforms the big toe moving the toe towards the
second toe. In some cases, the big toe can rest under or over the second toe;
this is called an "Overlapping Toe."
Definition of a Tailor's Bunion
Also referred to as a bunionette,
a Tailor's bunion forms on the outside of the foot towards the joint at the
little toe. This bump forms as the little toe moves towards the big toe.
Causes:
A person may experience symptoms, such as
soreness to the skin and painful inflammation of the big and small toe, causing
the person to walk improperly. Bunions can be caused by hereditary foot
deformities and arthritis. But, the most common cause of a bunion is wearing
tight, pointed shoes that over time constrict the toes and push the bone
outward.
Why You Need Happy Feet
Happy Feet® Massaging
Insoles lift the foot arch and relieve stress on the cords that align the big
and small toe. Happy Feet® relaxes the toes and puts less stress on the bunion.
Happy Customers:
"I've had 10 operations on my
left foot due to a birth defect. My toes hurt and I can't run. Recently, I tried
Happy Feet. They are amazing! I get the cushioning where I need it, on the ball
of my left foot. I'd surely tell anyone who is on their feet a lot, or even have
foot problems, as I do, that Happy Feet really work." (Grace,
Ohio)
